In Clear Light of Day the theme seems to be one of forgiveness, letting go of resent and embracing the present. Bimla is especiaaly bitter at her brother Raja for being who he is- rich,ambitious and a lover of luxury and comforts. Bimla still treats Tara like if she's a little girl that she can manipulate and push around with her &quot;big sister&quot; antics. Tara even so, tries her very best not to feelresentful towards her sister who so often hurts her feelings. This story's theme goes beyond just forgiving and forgetting. It also portrays a country in the middle of a political warfare that has devided its citizens amongst each other. It is a symbol of death to the siblings after the family cow died.<br \/>\n  The gramophone owned by Baba who is mentally challenged. It signifies non changing for the reason that he had it from since childhood, he chooses to listen to the same genre of music and nothing otherwise.
